Artist Spotlight: Hit-Boy

One artist that has spiraled into the music industry in the last ten years is none other than Chauncey Hollis Jr. or more commonly, Hit-Boy. Surprisingly, Hit-Boy found his first break on the now much less popular Myspace. Polow da Don contacted the young artist with four single words: “Let’s get this paper.” Although Hit-Boy has since produced for well-known artists like Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kid Cudi, and many more, what you might not know is that he is also one of the founders of the brand Surf Club. Birthed in southern California, Surf Club works with a number of artists, songwriters, and other producers.

Most recently on June 9th, 2013, Hit-Boy released his new video “Jay-Z Interview Pt. II”. This documentary-style music video is a sequel to “Jay-Z Interview Pt. I”, another video released almost exactly a year ago. In “Jay-Z Interview Pt. II”, Hit-Boy furthers the documentation of his music career with personal footage including studio work, video shoots, and late night parties. Viewers also witness the joy Hit-Boy feels as he receives his first Grammy award for the Jay-Z and Kanye West track, “Ni**as in Paris.”
