MGMT – "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything"

awewwe

In the wait for the new MGMT record – which the boys are supposedly already mixing – one ought to listen to a lesser-played song of theirs:  “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything”.  A cover of the song by the same name by British rock band, Bauhaus, the song was included on the 2011 album, Late Night Tales: MGMT, a compilation of sorts of the band’s favorite artists and songs.  “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything” is a rather anxious, uncomfortable song but there is an undeniable beauty to it as well.  It is, in fact, darker than such MGMT songs as “Time to Pretend” and “Weekend Wars” but it’s equally wonderful.
