Given that I doubt I will be listening to much music besides the Coachella 2012 Lineup in the months leading up to the festival, I’m going to be doing something called the Coachella 2012 series to explore some of the artists playing the festival, especially the lesser-known acts in the smaller font. Now you can all join me in doing my Coachella homework!
In issue #1, I will be talking about the bouncy, melodic, epic, Lion King-level pride-inducing African-influenced World Rockers, GIVERS. You may be familiar with their song Up Up Up which was a bit of an indie hit this summer. Their music fits right in with experimental world music indie rockers Dirty Projectors and tUnE-yArDs (another Coachella artist, more to come on them later), and if you’re familiar with Paul Simon‘s album Graceland this kind of music will definitely tickle your pleasure bone. The song below, Atlantic, is my favorite song off their debut album “In Light.”
